kiek suprantu, Airijoj yra nemaža mūsų tautiečių, juolab ir senbernių. tai vat, žiūrėkit, nepražiopsokit -- gal kam nors baltiškos natos ir linksmai-liūdnos melodijos visai pamalonintų širdį.

kiek suprantu, daba jie pasirodo kartu su dūdmaišininku. net jei ir prastai įgarsinti, nuotaikingą atmosferą jie vistiek perduoda. bent taip buvo kovo 11d., renginyje Tėvynei.
P.S.: prisišnekėjau. dūdmaišininkas paguldytas į ligoninę, jam su kairiu plaučiu kažkas negerai, vandens ten kažkokio prisirinko. dviejų dienų senumo naujienos iš Skyforger diskusijų lentos. :-/ |

"Make no mistake, Skyforger were a breath of fresh air. The Latvian riff men, clad in cool barbarian garb, turned in one of the most life affirming performances Ive had the privilege of attending. Their songs are METAL to the bone and laden with the most meaty, hooky riffs this side of
well its hard to say, but by Thor/Satan/Whoever they slayed. Anyone vaguely interested in them will know by now that all the lyrics are in their native tongue and for this credit is due. What is the point of singing the praises of your ancestral culture in a foreign tongue? Anyway, the sheer bloody-minded conviction of their battle hymns wasnt lost in translation. Im not sure how many people in the Voodoo considered themselves fans of the band, but they made plenty of new friends judging by the rapturous cheers elicited from the baying throng. The fact that the band returned for an unscheduled acapella folk encore was testament to the rapport established between band and audience and an unexpected treat. The memories of this gig will live with me for a long time and like fellow Baltic metal fanciers I can only hope that the success of Skyforger will open the gates for the likes of Obtest, Loits and Dissimulation playing here in the future.

Skyforger were an absolute revelation. Shorn of their folk instrumentation, their sound was exposed for the honest to goodness Heavy Metal it is, and shone all the brighter for it - witness the stray "Seek & Destroy" riff midway through their set. The traditionally styled riffage was ably backed up by a powerful torrent of double bass from behind the kit and the surprisingly excellent clean voice of their bass player. The reaction they got was something else; bands like Skyforger are supposed to play to one man and his canine sidekick in Belfast, not to a crowd of over a hundred punters baying for more, so to say the crowd reaction was surprising and uplifting is an understatement to say the least. The only disappointments were the lack of songs from "Latvian Riflemen" and the slight under representation of their chanting sections, but nothing could put a dampener on their superb set. I expected much, and they delivered in style, well above my expectations.

The passion Skyforger have for their music is clearly visible onstage, to the extent you almost feel like quitting the music business: I'm not sure I think about music the same way these guys do; I'm not sure many people do at all. This isn't just being in a band, it isn't just touring and beer; it is, in a way, something very akin to what Primordial seem to stand for writ large, a passion for their country's pagan past and uncertain present. Skyforger are just one of those bands that come along every blue moon or so, just to show everybody else up. I know it's bit late for this tour, but I would seriously urge anyone who likes metal AT ALL to see these guys at some point before they die."

ne, negalejau, bet pavieshinau ir kai kas nuejeo pagal mano reklama. Skelbiau kad gros folka, o grojo metala, bet sake visvien patiko mano apgautiems zmonems :) |
